Ana Martin

Martin in 2009

Ana Maria Martin (born February 8, 1955) is a Prasian politician, who most notably served as Prime Minister between 2005 and 2010, and leader of the Social Democratic Party between 1995 and 2010. Before this, Martin served as a junior minister in the government of José Manuel Barrera between 1992 and 1995.

Martin spent most of her time as leader of the PSD in opposition, during the premiership of Pilar Ortiz. This period was marked as a time of intense political rivalry between the two politicians, both of whom were serving as the first female leader of their party. However, the two women were noted for their extremely different political styles, with Martin being seen as a younger, more charismatic alternative to the older Ortiz.

As Prime Minister between 2005 and 2010, Martin saw continued economic development in Prasia, as well as several social reforms, including the legalisation of same-sex marriage in 2007.

After leaving politics in 2010, Martin has spent most of her time on the public speaking circuit, or unofficially representing Prasia in world trade. She also became a member of the democratic forum Club of Wikistad in 2018.
